Studying is Awesome

A university student had better to be an autonomous learner. In university, the teacher does not present all of materials anymore. The students should be more active in developing their skills. I am really aware that I should study autonomously and explore my skills. Consequently, I should study hard.
Graduated from Senior High School made me confused in which university I should register. I registered PMDK in UM, but I was not accepted. Then, I joined intensive course for preparing SNMPTN. I registered for UM through SNMPTN and UIN through PMB Mandiri. The announcement of the acceptance was on the same day. Unbelievably, I was accepted both in UM and UIN. Yet, my father asked me to put my name down UIN. It means that I am supposed to stay in dormitory for a year.
I accustomed to stay far away from home seeing that I have ever stayed in boarding school for six years. In this dormitory, I was obliged to stay with my seven friends in a wide room. They are Fida, Irine, Azizah, Ifa, Ana, Putri and Dewi. That was totally different with my last boarding school where I was required to live with my eleven friends in a fairly small room. Staying in one room for a year made us just like family.
I had to join Intensive Arabic Course for two semesters. This course went on for around four and a half hours a day and five days in a week in a year. Every class consisted of approximately thirty five students from different department with the nearly same of Arabic competences. In the end of the year of Arabic course, the lecturer held a competition for the students, such as speech contest, quiz program, drama, nasyid, calligraphy, wall magazine and so on.
I had the most memorable holiday in the end of the third semester. My friends and I have planned to either hiking mount Bromo or travelling to a nice waterfall named Madakaripura. The beauty of Bromo and Madakaripura made me completely paralyzed. We got the peak of mount at 5 a.m. I waited for sunrise while both having breakfast and enjoying the beautiful scenery. We had to walk around forty minutes to get the waterfall. Bathing in the river was like pouring water comes from heaven.
In this fourth semester, I have four kind-hearted friends. They are Irine, Ilin and Icha. They are in the same class as me. A friend in need is a friend indeed. We share our happiness and sadness together. We tried to help each other. We often go somewhere and discuss assignments together. We have ever gone to Blitar just for having fun together. We used to discuss our assignments at my home stay. We have ever gone biking around our campus.
I ought to enjoy my time being a university learner. This is the time to explore all I have. Not only just studying hard but also improving my abilities. Filling in this precious time with valuable things and not wasting it by doing useless things.

The Best Trip Ever

Most of people want to have some days off to refresh their mind for having continuously tiring activities. Holiday is such drinking water in a terrible hyper term desert. There are many ways of spending holidays, such as: travelling somewhere, go hiking mountain, shopping, hang-out with some friends, even just stay in the home. In the last holiday, around two months ago, my friends and I went hiking Mount Bromo. Mount Bromo is located in Probolinggo. My classmates have planned it well. That was the first time I went hiking a Mount.
First of all, prior to take this exciting trip, I prepared all of the things I should bring. I brought not onlysome clothes, but also snacks and foods. I carefully packed them into my suitcase. In the evening, Iboth checked them and made sure that anything left, I was ready to go. All of my friends agreed to gather in front of campus at 9 pm. I came on time, but, no one has come. Neither the chief of my class nor the travel agent that we rented has come yet. A little while later, my friends came one by one. We were already gathered at 10 o’clock. Unfortunately, no notification from the travel agent whether they would come or late. We waited for an hour and at 11 pm the rented car came. There are several routes to go to Bromo. We chose Malang – Pasuruan – Probolinggo – Penanjakan route.
My friends were really enjoying the trip. They sang every song played through the CD player together. They sang loudly and happily as if they threw away all of their despondency due to the final exam. We arrived at a place around 2 am. Due to the fact that at that place was very dark, all of us had no clue where we are. One of my friends asked somebody passed by, unexpectedly he said, “Ahh, you passed the wrong way guys. You must turn around in order to get that mount”. So, we turned around and followed his suggestion. We started hiking the mount at 3.30 am. We reached the top of Bromo mount at 5 am. I waited for sunrise while having breakfast. Enjoying this awesome scene, I talked to myself, “God, You are really the greatest of the great painter in the world”.
That was the longest and0 most tired trip I have ever had in my whole life. Spending holiday with my friends is really an amazing experience.

Is It Crucial to Maintain Khilafah Islamiyah in Indonesia?

Nowadays, the mainstream Islamic groups have developed in Indonesia. One of them is HTI; HTI stands for Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia. Founder of HTI, Syaikh Taqiyuddin an-Nabhani, stated that Muslims will bear a grave sin if they oppose to participate in maintaining Khilafah Islamiyah (Islamic governmental system). This fatwa is written in his book titled al-Syakhshiyyah al-Islamiyah (Basic Law of Islam). HTI industriously struggles for Khilafah Islamiyah. They argue that maintaining Khilafah Islamiyah as in Rasulullah era is done for the sake of this nation -Indonesia. This fatwa is clearly radical, strongly extreme and untrue for several reasons.

The first reason is about Muslims’ obligation in appointing a leader. It is obvious that a nation or state must have a leader to regulate the people. In this case, Muslims do not have to appoint a leader in the name of Khilafah. It is permitted to appoint caliph or king. Whoever the leader is –caliph, king, prime minister or president- as long as he or she can regulate the state well, it will bring the prosperity for the people.

Second is about Muslims’ obligation in appointing leader. Muslims are required to appoint one leader as the symbol of world Muslim unity. It must be done if Muslims are regarded as capable in doing the duty. If not, that obligation is dropped.
